I'm doing something I never thought I would do: create a blog. As proof of my popularity, lots and lots of people have asked me to send them email updates and pictures from Cape Town. It appears that the most efficient way to do this is to create this journal, so that I can include picture commentary as I go.
Just to refresh everyones' memories, I am going to be studying at the University of Cape Town in South Africa until November/December. I'll (hopefully) have an M.Phil. in Justice and Transformation Studies by the time I leave. For those of you who are wondering what you do with a degree in "Justice and Transformation Studies", the answer is that I have no clue. I will hopefully figure this out while I'm gone. I have a feeling that the answer will be "go to school some more", though.
My time in South Africa will be paid for almost entirely by the lovely people at Rotary International. So a million thanks to any of you Rotarians who read this. Hopefully I will put your money to good use!
I thought I'd try the picture thing first, so here are a few of the best pictures from the going-away party that my parents had for me.
